The table top and the trapezoidal leg panels are each hewn from sold timbers. The leg panels are carved in relief with large hanging ruyi on each side in a style that was typical of the Yuan and Ming periods. The aprons are of single boards, and the end pieces have remained intact. The surfaces, once finely finished with thick black lacquer, are made rough by centuries of exposures to the elements.
