This collection is personally sourced by owners
and Chinese antique experts Oi Ling Chiang and
Jane Wills. Their philosophy is to accept only
furniture formerly used in the homes of the
elite — such as scholars and officials. This
ensures a high standard of line and form in each
piece of furniture — proportion being a key
element in the appreciation of Chinese antique
furniture.
Ming Mai Gallery's current collection includes Ming-style
chairs, cabinets, altar tables and day beds from
the 18th and 19th centuries. Also, Ming Mai has
an exclusive collection of scholar items and objets d’art such as Huanghuali brush pots,
trays, cosmetic boxes, and Lama bowls. Recently,
the collection has expanded with selected
precious tomb pieces.
